About Doncaster Outsiders Walking Club

Welcome to stress-free walking. Doncaster Outsiders walk in the most beautiful areas without you having to worry about driving long distances, or parking or getting lost or being on your own.

Doncaster Outsiders Walking Club was founded in the 1970s. You can expect a warm inclusive welcome from our friendly approachable members, and a wonderful full day out.

Our walks are generally linear, supported by our luxury coach company Buckley’s. Hence we avoid masses of cars descending on local communities. Doncaster Outsiders walk plan changes from year to year. Our dedicated team of walk leaders plan and pre-walk routes for your enjoyment. We walk within a wide radius of Doncaster in the Dales, Wolds, Peaks and Moors. Our walks have interesting, beautiful and historic themes.

From January 2026 the price is £20 per walk for non-members. Members pay a membership fee. There are currently regular spaces for non-members with the opportunity to apply for full membership.

The coach leaves Doncaster Market Car Park at 8.00am (parking charges now apply) once a month for a full day out. Take your pick of the Long walk (8-10 miles) or the Shorter walk (about 7

miles). Our walk ends at a good pub for a drink and a chat. After a break there is the option of a short afternoon walk (up to 3 miles.) If that doesn’t appeal, then linger for a drink and a chat.

Coach pick-ups

The main pick up is Doncaster Market Place at 08:00.

Other pick-ups by agreement are:

• Blaxton 7.10am

• Auckley 7.15am

• St. Erics Road (Cantley Lane side) 7.20am,

• Winning Post and Balby betting shops 7.40am

• Doncaster Market Car Park 08.00.

• York Road 08.05 .

We recommend sturdy walking shoes/boots as we often cover uneven terrain, basic footpaths and fells with mud, waterproofs in case of rain, a fleece when sat outside, and a drink/sandwiches.

There are two walking routes. Choose from the Long walk (usually 8-10 miles) and the Shorter walk (usually 6-7.5 miles). Each have at least one mid walk stop for consuming any sandwiches or snacks and drinks that you bring. We arrive at a welcoming pub, or a village/town, in the early afternoon. We do not route march (if it’s still too fast tell the leader) and there is time for brief photo opportunities.

The coach generally departs around 4:30pm to pick up the afternoon walkers and return to Doncaster.
