Kit List

This is a suggestion of the items that you may want to wear or carry. Contents will vary according to the season. Our walks last 4-4.5 hours and we often walk off the beaten track. Weather can change dramatically over that time.

Walking boots or shoes and walking socks

​

Waterproof jacket

​

Waterproof trousers

​

Rucksack or day sack, 25-35L should be fine. Many have an integrated rain cover, for those rainy days

 

Rucksack liner - particularly useful if you do not have a rain cover for your rucksack

​

Fleece - perfect for controlling your body temperature. On warm days, it is light enough to be stashed in your rucksack.

​

Drinking water - 2 half-litre bottles are ideal, or any other cold drink.

​

Light lunch - Your choice of coffee, soup, sandwiches, fruit, energy bars, crisps etc.

​

Mat to sit on - for your comfort.​

Gloves

​

Buff, snood or scarf – warm in winter, wet to aid cooling in summer.

Boot covers/Boot bags/Change of footwear

Muddy boots are not allowed on the coach, and at some establishments. Boot covers are an option, but boot bags with a clean change of footwear are recommended.

Personal medication

Please ensure you have any important medication with you. Inform walk leaders or club first aiders of any medical condition which may affect your fitness to walk.

​

Personal first aid kit - Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, plasters etc.

 

Mobile phone and maybe a battery pack.
